SE Alberta report...
Michelle has 10ft open water around it.
Spruce Coulee has gate closed,I assume road is in rough shape going down.
Reesor is flushable with foot access pretty much anywhere, ice 14 inches out in open and very soft....
I would assume Bullshead will be unfishable thru ice for opening day,and wont have much open water.

Any new ice updates what lakes might be safe to walk on....pigeon at the boat launch is 3 to 5 inches about 150 200 ft out

Just the little or shallower ones.  Trout lakes are all good to go with 5-6 inches.  No snow left so a windy weekend like this weekend makes it tough, tough, tough.  Good change in weather starting Tuesday.  Most lakes should be good to go in 2 weeks  ;)

Star Lake west of Edmonton has about 5 inches on Dec. 1. Fished 11:00 to 4:00 this afternoon and didn't catch anything. Sounded like it was a slow day for most others on the lake as well.

Been to Wabamun a couple times in the last week. There's 7-8 inches with the top 3 or so being cloudy and there's a little bit of flood ice where I was near Fallis. Walleye bite's been good, seen a few pike and a burb.

Likely hitting north side LSA tomorrow. If I do I'll post what I find.

7-8 inches on the north side of the east basin at LSA, with the top 3 being cloudy. No whites seen but lots of pike and walleye.

Pigeon Lake - 10' - 12" good ice. A few people were driving on at the provincial park. Most were walk ons. Fished only a couple hours at drop off and no sign of life down our holes. Saw one walleye caught next to us and that was all.

Gull Lake - 12"  good ice. Lots of people driving on. Lots of walk on at Brownlows. Wilson Beach was same, but got a bit thinner farther out from shore. No fish, non seen.

Slow times!  I managed to at least find the walleye but that was about it.  9-10 inches out further on Pigeon.   Not a lot of ice for this time of year.  I'm skidooing it.

I saw all species of fish at Gull except perch.  Ice was 11-13 inches.  13 inches closer to shore and 11 out further.

Reports from a few of the farmers around here in East Central Alberta are around 3-4 inch in the dugouts and sloughs they are opening for the cows. These are mostly all small bodies of water and close to shore. We have very little snow and have had a couple of weeks already of some double digit lows. All depends on the weather but if it continues as it has should have walk on ice first week in December. . I am not one to push it, but the lakes around here are small with most being less than a mile by a mile so things firm up pretty quick.

Sylvan Lake - Dec 09th .... Posted today on Alberta Outdoors, here you go if your not a A/O member.

Did an ice survey today it looks like Sylvan ice s/b ok to walk out on Dec 11th.

Took measurements 100 & 200 yds out. LtHse area = 6”, Norglenwold = 6.5”, Sunbreaker = 6”, Palm Bay = 8”.

This year there’s no ice heavies or ridges along shore to get over.

Lighthouse Area ..

Norglenwold Lake access Road ....

Sunbreaker Cove area ....

Palm Bay area had the most ice ...

Gull Lake ice report Jan 9

Brownlow's has 22" of ice. We saw 1 burbot, 1 walleye, a couple perch, 1 whitefish and half a dozen pike on the camera. Water is really murky this year with only 5-6 feet of good visibility.

Had one bite all day. Oh well, at least it wasn't -30
The more I fish, the less I know about fishing...

Well that sucks on the visibility factor.   It has been good for a few years now.

Pigeon has 16-17 inches a week ago so should be a bit more by now.   Zero fish caught....sigh.

Was on Ghost Reservoir yesterday, fishing on 12-14" of clear ice in a bout 60' of water.  Saw a handful of whitefish and a few large trout on camera.  Nothing on ice unfortunately by the end of the day.
