I was looking at a guide's Facebook page today and the markings on a fish his client was holding caught my eye. After closer comparison I realized it was the same fish I caught and released two weeks prior to the guide's client catching it!!! I told the guide his client could thank me later ;) It was released again! (moved about three miles since I released it)

So what you are implying is that "catch and release" fishing works? ;D ;D ;D
Great work! ;D And what a beauty of a fish!
-
Thats awsome. On the youtube is a channel called uncut angling and they show segments in there show about catch and relase. it's pretty awsome

Far as I know that fish could be a FISH-OF-A-LIFETIME for that guy... And I put it back for him to catch (and release again). Kind of cool.

Awesome!!
-
Very very cool!!!
-
It does work for sure.
The fact that someone else caught the same fish in that short time frame is amazing. With as many fish in the population what are the chances? Not only that, both parties having it documented and released. Great Job!
Cheers!

Good eye spotting that! Super fish. Good to see it's still swimming. I released my biggest laker at Torrey last weekend, but it was more of an "un-intentional" release, as in my hook came flying back out at me! An expletive laced rant echoed off the canyon walls for a while. C&R if always great practice with these big ol' fish. I wish we could "catch and release" our big ol' Wyoming mule deer bucks too.

Best post ive seen on here in a long time, Great job sir!
-
Yep that's great! ;D
I have done it on 2 occasions with catfish, (caught and released the exact same fish), Once was within 2 hours of the first catch.. now that surprised me.
And M.M. I guess your post kinda settles the debate of releasing lake trout from water deeper than 30' huh? ;D ;) ;D

Very cool MM, CPR works no doubt
-
That is so awesome!
I was in my boat and hooked into a fish with a little 1/8 oz jig and fought the fish for quite awhile only to have it break my line and thinking man I wish I could have at least seen the fish. Latter that day I went back to the same spot and was fishing the same way hooked into another good fish this time I was successful in landing the fish a northern pike only to find my jig in it's mouth, I removed both hooks and let the fish swim away. Practice Catch and Release it works.

Hope you don't mind, I have a catch and release page on FB I shared this on

Also testament to the fact that fish have a nearly zero learning curve (lucky for us).

Nice BIG Laker ! :woot: :woot: C & R is a good way to pay it forward 4 both fish and angler !

Cool stuff! I had a similar situation, this cut was caught by my sister on Thanksgiving, and then again by me on New Years day. Note the "w" pattern of spots above the front pectoral fin.

That's cool, I'm gonna have to start payin a little better attention to the fish I catch
-
I have often wonder how often something like that happens. Looks like more often than I originally imagined.
-
I've already shared this with a number of fishing friends at work. Pretty wild you even noticed this in another photo too! (But then again, you are an artist!)

MM, Is that a snagger's scar on its side?
-
Maybe I should head to your spot. By the looks of it that fish may be on a "Final Destination" trip. Probably a 20 yr old fish made it that long not being caught and now twice within 2 weeks you say. Well maybe I have a shot at her then. You know if shes looking to head to the big lake in the sky. Or my wall. Thats definitely a fish of a life time.

YES sorry suckers ! this fish allso had an open gash on the other side! I would
Say 90% that I catch fair chase have foul hook marks from Linwood In nov!

Imagine going over to some guy's house for a Super Bowl Party, and seeing your released Lake Trout hanging on his wall??? That'd be a kick in the teeth, wouldn't it?

If we can get a big enough group of anglers together to hit a couple Utah rac meetings I bet we could get it done! I have been in the prosese alone so may take so time but I have sparked alot of interest!
-
I'm with I will help do what I can just let me know what I need to do

Awesome post!

Here is a link to an UNcut Angling video, as someone mentioned earlier in the thread, of these guys catching the same monster pike 2 days in a row
Good to remember for big fish, especially in waters where they can successfully reproduce.
Also, check out Uncut Angling's youtube channel, lots of big fish on there.
