Post by: MissRappala on Feb 12, 2024, 06:34 PM: Best kept secrets for a top chowder? Haven’t made one in quite awhile and I have some fresh perch fillets reserved to make an honorary batch this week :)

I usually use pickerel that I first bake whole with seasoning on it, then I flake it as my chowder meat. I would never use precious perch fillets in chowder unless I had 10 pounds of them.

^ This .. I know it says Walleye, but I’ve used it for Crappie, white perch an yellow perch

Lots of great flavor ideas thanks all so far, can’t wait to see how my final version will turn out with a few extra additions now ;D

Step 1 pic to the Final Step pic! Best batch of chowder I’ve had to enjoy, fun making a recipe up pulling lots of ideas in :) can’t beat a fresh baked slice of bread to add as well with the brew.
