Aren't rookies only rookies for a year?

Hey administrators,
You guys do an awesome job with this site and it sure gives us something to look forward to getting on the net.  I do have a question though.  I have been on this site for 4 years now and I am still considered a rookie.  I realize that the rating system is based on the number of threads you make.  Unfortunately I have never wanted to post idle chit chat to gain the next rating level which in my case would be a regular.  Certainly after four years I think I'm a regular and I post whenever I have something worthy to report.
Maybe in the future you will consider changing our status on the basis of our tenure and not soley our posts. 
I don't know if it makes a difference but I have been ice fishing for just shy of 40 years and to be a rookie for 4 years doesn't make sense to me.
I know my question is really not a big issue but maybe you guys can kick it around for us longer term quiet members.

When you reach your 100th post on here you become a regular. It shouldn't matter too much what your rank is as long as you're having fun here.

I agree with Roy. I don't care what my or anyone else's status is on here. I just enjoy the fellowship of all the great people on here and HOPE that everyone doesn't just come here to take and not give a little.
