Wisconsin man spears a 6-foot sturgeon.

Just posted on another forum. Thought it was pretty interesting.

We used to see alot of big boys about that size while shootin' carp on the Chippewa/Eau Claire river(s).

I've never tried or known anyone who spears.  Must be fun but I'm not sure Sturgeon would top on the list for a fish fry.

 Were still after em thats anice one but a coulpe years ago a guy got the new stste record 188# that was big.I would guess the average size is 40 to 50# and 45 to 55"

Thats a Dandy!! I fish for them on the Chippewa/Flambeau and the best we have done is a 63" 62# my dad caught 2 years ago. They fight like a freight train. I would love to hook into one that size. What a Blast. They aren't the best eating, i've tried them about anyway that you can fix them and smoked is about the best. I have no plans on keeping any more "catch and release". They are an awsome fish.

We can't keep sturgeon here in Vt.  Do they eat well?

  I'll bet the 6 footer was eating pretty good.....

not sure about the fish.....but at $100 bucks an ounce....the eggs must be pretty tasty....
