Hard bead spoons

Does anyone know what some good spoons and bead combos are for this technique?  I would like to try it on some lakes around here in Montana and am just starting to figure it out...

sportsmensdirect has some pretty sweet spoons with beads on them, i bought some of the mark custom lure spoons they are  real nice , now if i can only catch a perch on them before the ice season is over

How do you fish these?  Do you tip the hook with minnow head, spike, etc or just fool them with the bead?

so far i've been using just the bead with success...I have had some instances where tipping with one spike helps
