I went to Otter Pond in Naples....a couple bass and a pickerel the size of Frozen's Nutts!

Long Lake had hooked.....Tricky is starting....no ice on Jordan's yet

mabye another month.....

No Name Pond Lewiston. South end had 3 inches of ice. North had less than one inch. I fished in five feet of water with two traps on the north end. 4 pickerel, 2 largemouth (small) and 5 white perch (2 were fillet sized) I would not venture out any further and literally wore a life jacket, ice picks and yak tracks. By midmorning the sun was eroding the ice near some spring holes so I got out of Dodge but a good first outing.

Jacksmelt,my son and myself hit Mattawamkeag Lake today. We caught a few pickeral on cut bait and I jigged my first salmon through the ice for the year. Also caught 2 other pickeral jigging a Mister Twister on a red stainless steel jighead. All in the all, the day was a hit as we had another IceShanty.com member stop by to visit but I didn't catch his screen name. Guess, next time I'll drive north and fish with Jacksmelt.

Didnt get out fishing at all, actually at about 7:00pm tonight I finally got into my traps for the first time this December. They have been sitting in my mud room just begging to be gone through and made ready to fish, but other priorities took over until tonight. I am officially ready!!!!!!! NOW BRING ON A WEEK OF SOLID 5-10 DEGREES and i will feel much better about not sinking. GOOD LUCK to all and dont take any chances out there. Our lives arent worth a fish

Hi all.....checking in for the first time this year. I got out today with two other chums and their families here in the Millinocket area. Just 4 inches of hard blue ice up this way. We got set up by 2 and left at 4. THe kids caught 3 nice pickerel. It was a good afternoon and fun to get out for the first time. A word about ice safety to all...check the ice before you go out too far. The pond I trap bait in has only 4 inches too. Lots of open water last week around here....I was at Rip Dam and the waves were 3 feet or more high for as long as I could see...and South Twin lake was open on Thursday...so give the ice a chance to freeze!

it would have Cliff, but as you know....it had a bunch of open sores and warts on it

Man, I was almost droolin' while I was filleting them. I had some during the summer but they just don't taste the same as the ones caught through the ice

I havn't been on this site in a while ( ive been moving) and i cant beleive this thread is on page 2 already. lol. anyways i fished a small pond in turner for a few hours and we were running for flags all morning. we caught well over 2 doz fish. probabbly closer to 30. including a 3+ pound bass, 18" pickeral, and 3 Perch 13+". it was fun to finally get out there. i will def. be out on the ice next weekend. anyone ever fish hooper pond in greene? i drove by there on monday to check the ice thickness and there is plenty. there were some holes already cut. so somebody hs been out there, we might fish it on saturday. let me know if anyone is interested.
