I've caught multiple this year on a salmo chubby darter. Any rattling bait like a jigging rap, live target rattling bait should work. I've found the rat-l-trap to not have a very good action for jigging. When they are not as aggressive, I like to use a big spoon like a Swedish pimple. You can bait spoons with just about anything bigger than a crappie minnow, a small sucker works great.

Airplane jigs work well. I like to incorporate some rubber tails on my jigs, it seems to tick them off.

Also bigger isn't always better for pike. Noise and flash often get the job done in a small package.

Good luck! An exciting way to fish them.
