I believe I got that right off the Fwp website.
-
I called Sharon at silos today....she's usually on top of that stuff....
-
Well There you have it right from the source.
-
Is it true only 10 fish for the big weigh in on Sunday?
-
Just got off the phone with Sharon yes it's the biggest 10 fish u have.
-
been looking at clips of this at vimo and you tube... we are gathering up a team next year for sure. just starting the ice fishing this year.
-
Looks like some people have no life!
-
any good alternative spots to fish away from the derby? I plan on going on Sun 1/25
-
North end. Hauser or holter.
-
Forget the north end of Canyon Ferry unless you are very familiar with it. The ice is very unpredictable and the fishing even more so.

Plenty of trouting options on the south end away from the main crowd.
-
They're doing well south of silos for trout.
-
looks like Tim raised 30 fish for nothing!
Tim Marsh the aka iceholer?
-
MTntv,
What if anything are you suggesting about Tim?
-
Dont know a marsh but thanx for asking
-

I think we gave you a run for last place!!!!!
-
I think a lot of teams were just on the edge one more jumbo would of made all the difference between last and second I bet a lot of people would of like it to have ben held last week when the bite was a little better
-
Who were the turds that got caught trying to weigh in a fish from Sat?
-
Does anyone know where I could get access to the results from the derby? Curious to see how all did. Thanks.

FWP, who issues the permit to hold the fishing derby, requires the permittee to submit fishing results usually within a month after the derby. With a little coaxing, they will send you a copy when they get it.

thanks LFP

No results posted yet but the Helena IR has some nice photos from the weekend.

Ya they road out with us. They got really soaked in the 3mile ride out there in the back of the trailer. It was a great day on the ice.
-
I did hear something about a team trying to weigh a fish from saturday at sundays derby and its a damn shame there are SCUMBAGS out there that feel the need to CHEAT. If you cant compete fair, STAY HOME!!!!!!
-
You should have seen the way they dispersed after they were caught it was priceless.
-
Hope they are shamed into staying away next year!
-
so let me get this straight they mooched a ride AND tried to cheat?
-
I think he meant the IR reporter/photographer caught a ride, not the cheaters.
-
Indeed. What born late said. Sorry about the confusion. When they were cuaght for the clipped fish. When they were coming out the front door they dispersed rather quickly across the parking lot.
-
I missed the part about the reporters the first time around.
-
Yeesh. I just saw in today's Helena IR article that the biggest perch (1.23 lb) in the individual event last weekend darned near surpassed the biggest walleye (1.33 lb).

-
I know of a perch that was caught on Sunday that weighed 1.46 lbs. Biggest I've seen come out of CF.
-
Ya there was some bigger perch caught on Sunday. Pretty sure Iceholers biggest was 1.55 on Sunday. Last years biggest perch was 1.8 was first 1.68 was second. There out there.
-
Ya my son pulled it out on Sunday 1.49 lbs to bad it wasn't Saturday would still be celebrating

A big perch is just the coolest thing.
-
Yep that's a jumbo.
-
That's a dandy!
The perch size doesn't surprise me as much as what seems like further confirmation that no one has yet figured out how to regularly pull larger walleyes from CF during the winter. I know I sure haven't.

There's people out there catching bigger eyes there just not saying anything. Biggest I've heard of this year is 26".

Heh heh. Maybe saw a path just wide enough and long enough to drop the boat in and troll? ;D

"Regularly" was the operative word in my comment; I don't doubt that some are being caught. I do doubt that walleye anglers suddenly become modest and don't take big fish photos in the winter. ;)
Is the article correct that the top perch on Saturday paid $1035 while the top walleye was only worth a hundred bucks? ???
