See you all on Saturday morning, I'll be going out of Wellington looking for lakers and rainbows

love your shack! I've looked at those many times and they are sweet! Where is there a dealer around here for them?

Weather was nicer than it has been the last few days. Started out breezy but by the end of the day, the wind died down.

As soon as i got set up, i saw lakers waiting for me so i thought. CH was able to join me today, She missed 3 lakers right off the bat. She blamed it on being out of practice for a year...

Eggs and Bacon for breakfast curtesy of CH (She was giving me a chance to catch one I think) and when she was done, she sat down and yanked one up. I now fear she's got her mojo back and I need to protect my lead.

Saw quite a few lakers today but wanted nothing to do with my kastmaster nor bucktails. They were all interested in the CH special, Pink and Purple bucktail with cut bait.
At least she was on the board today unlike me.

No dealers around here unfortunately, I drove to Detroit lakes, Minnesota for her. Outdoor sports center on Manchester street in Concord says that a company out of Maine makes something similar

Curious about the snow pack on the ice, we have two house’s to go out that are built on camper trailers and wonder how bad the tow out will be. We are heading just south of Cummins beach.. at least that is our plan. Thanks

Cummings Beach where we usually put on the houses has a snow banken that is huge. Highly doubt you will be able to put in there unless you bring a couple of shovels.
Im not sure about the foot of the lake but that could be a possibility.
Another option would be to launch from Wellington and haul them south from there. It would be a long ride but probably the simplest. Houses are traveling good right now, some bare spots of just black ice and hard pack snow drifts every where else. That'll soften up as the week progresses. Just watch out for deep snow drifts from houses etc...
At the bottom of the launch where it meets the ice, there is an "Ice Speed Bump", you might get hung up on that.

Good luck!

Decided to take the day off in order to not take any chances that CH might catch up and pass me in terms of numbers. Tippin had today off as well so we decided to bounce the houses.
Where we are now, we have 10" of pure black ice. Overcast day and in the 20's which felt like a heat wave. No wind. I ended up with 4 lakers bring my total to 15 for the season. Tippin got 1. We'll have to keep an eye on the houses this week due to the upcoming weather. Next week, we're back to good again. Some pictures forth coming.....

First time on Newfound this year, went on Sunday. Was in Pasquaney Bay, in 40-50 fow and landed 6 lakers. Lost another at the hole wrapped around the transducer cord and another two halfway up the column and missed out on some nice bites. Was a good first day!

Shobizz and I got the house out today with no issues...picked a spot by “The Sticks” where I hooked into a monster cusk on our last day last season.
I think it was a cusk anyway😳
It had actually tried to eat a laker that was on my line already.
Fought it for an hour before it spit out a 20” laker. Maybe she’s still lurking there!
Finally going out to fish tomorrow!
Some pics of the day...

Nice looking set up mowbizz!

I wonder how big a cusk/laker would have to be to try and eat a 20” laker. That would keep me going back.

You’re not kidding! Whatever it was it was so dang strong it would not budge  off the bottom. I used a lot of restraint with my 6lb leader but that line was singing and stretched to he max!

Thanks! And thanks for checking as usual! I looked for your house today to check it but didn't see it in the area around Mayhew. Ran into some slush overflow near there and then hightailed it back to Wellington...be out there tomorrow to try to jig a laker!

I bounced outta there this week, onto another spot. Ice is great this season so we are taking advantage of that. Wanna hit the spots that we haven't been able to get to in the last few years.

Good luck on jigging up them lakers tomorrow, show us what ya got!
