I’d be afraid if you went through with snow shoes on it would make getting out even more difficult. If you need them because of deep snow on top of the ice is one thing, but I would definitely not use them just for questionable ice.

If you ain't able to decipher good ice from bad, I would highly recommend you buy yerself a Spud bar. Go to the YouTube and search "Ice fishin Spud bar". You'll find lots of videos on how to use one. I'd also highly recommend you search "ice fishin safety 101". Again, lots of great videos to help expand yer knowledge of how to most safely traverse the ice.
