Even the Merrimack river was skimmed over this morning! Cold cold cold out there last night!

wow, that's surprising, especially with the current there. i live across from winnisquam and that lake hasn't even thought about freezing yet. at least the main/northern part of the lake.

this news comes as a mixed blessing. It means that MANY local waters should be safe by this weekend to get on the ice. BUT the early ice probably means a late ice out in April. Given the choice, I'd rather be 100% sure the lake is iced out on April 1st....I just jot additional gear to trick out my salmon trolling and can't wait to strain some water with it!

Center Harbor is locked in as of this morning. Still to much wind for Meredith Bay. You can tell it wants to freeze but the wind wont allow it.

Its strange it froze where the current comes out fom Mills Falls.

Yea, the wind is brutal on/around the lake today.

On the topic of trolling gear, I've been slacking and definitely need to starting thinking of spring... my boat basically needs a full outfit. It's going to be an expensive winter/spring. It seems that ordering gear never ends, I'm always looking for the next seasons must haves although I've hardly started fishing this season! Definitely could have picked a cheaper hobby!

Why is everyone talking about spring and trolling? Ice season just started!

Just remember either hard water or soft "You can never have too much equipment!" Need has nothing to do with it!
