first thing you should do is ditch the ducer arm and get a styrofoam wrap for the cable.  you can easily make one, but i picked one up for a buck or two at cabelas in scarborough.  that swing-arm is a pain in the butt!  dont' know what they were thinking with that...

I wouldn't be without mine.  This is my 3rd year with it.  Last year I finally got the settings just right for ice fishing (thanks to this site) and it made all the difference in the world.  You can do a search for X67C  on  IS and get all kinds of tips.

have fun with it man. make sure it's in ice machine mode. (iirc, menu setting while you're on the flasher display). i usually keep mine in split screen mode, one showing the entire water column to see those suspended fish, and the other zoomed and scrolled to the bottom.

i don't even bother to use it for bows since i usually fish for them on a few feet of water. i just look down the hole. they're deadly for crappie fishin though.

any luck with lakers on the x67 feedback would be great thank you

i have limited experience jigging for lakers, but i plan on changing that soon.  the x67 definitely helps out.  last year i would see one appear 20 feet below my lure and start shooting up toward it FAST (very exciting).  then the two color blobs merge and you either get a hit or they separate and the laker starts heading back down.  when the latter occurred i would add more action to the jig and it would shoot back up.  eventually you find out pretty quick if you're using the wrong color/lure.  w/out the flasher, you wouldn't even know a fish was there.

all of that happens in a matter of seconds...then you either hook the fish and the fight is on or it disappears.  i've had one disappear and i'd reel up, change the lure, drop it back down and it would come right back and strike!

it's by far my favorite way to ice fish.  but you have to put in a lot of work for those several seconds of fun.  you could jig hard for 2 hours and not even see one on the flasher.

That's excatly right Bass for me. You got it dead on. Gotta work it, work it.

I use both a fish finder and an underwater camera so you can see what's happening on the fish finder and confirm it with the camera.

Nice info!

JIGGIN.

i'll 3rd. that. i don't use mine in flasher mode though, i prefer the fish finder screen, split. but it's damn cool to see your jig bouncin somewhere in the middle of the water column, then see a line come rocketing up off the bottom. that's why i like the split screen. you can watch the entire water column on one side, and have the bottom zoomed in on the other. you can see those lakers cruisin along the bottom.
