Second Annual NJ Chapter of Team IceShanty Derby

Derby Date : Feb. 5, 2005 (Alternate date : Feb. 26, 2005)

Time : 7:00 AM thru 3:00 PM

Location : Lake Hopatcong .... River Styx
Parking will be available at Pavinci's Restaurant and Johnny's Marina and Bait

Eligible : Team IceShanty Members .......... children don't have to be members

Prizes : Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each category.
The largest eligible fish caught will have the option of prize or skin mount .
(There will also be randomly drawn prizes at the end of the derby)

Rules

[/b]

1 You must be a Team IceShanty member.

2 You must have a valid NJ fishing license and follow all regulations.

3 The entry is by length ... not weight or girth.

4 You must bring your entry to the measuring station during the posted derby hours.
(There will be a release hole to promote C&R)

5 No garbage is to be left out on the ice or in the parking lots ... if you bring it .. you dispose of it.

I'll be there with my son as well . This will be the very first icefishing derby of the newly formed Team Kopp .to bad the Captin has to work ,but he assures me ,I can use his power auger for the day .

Rt.80 exit 28 is best. Plug in the address at Mapquest for directions, but its the opposite side of the lake from Dow's. Johnny's info is :

I stopped by Johnny's Marina & Bait yesterday to make sure the owner was told about our derby and everything is a go. They were clearing more snow in the lot so there should be plenty of room. They will be open at 6:30am and have shiners and meal worms for bait. He sells and rents some equipment and has a couple of gas grills to rent as well. He also said he was thinking about a delivery service that weekend via 4-wheeler for food and bait out onto the ice for a fee, and to call for info. There is also a web-cam at http://www.johnnysmarina.com/ that points out onto the ice (camera 2).
