Whooo, first snow of the season!!!!!!!!!!!
« on: Oct 24, 2005, 12:23 PM »
Maybe the first flakes of the season to come tonight!!

X.NEW.KCTP.WS.A.0001.0 51025T0000Z-051026T0000Z/ MCKEAN-POTTER-ELK-CAMERON-NORTHERN CLINTON-CLEARFIELD- NORTHERN CENTRE-CAMBRIA-SOMERSET-TIOGA-NORTHERN LYCOMING-SULLIVAN- SOUTHERN LYCOMING-COLUMBIA- 1118 AM EDT MON OCT 24 2005
...WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING THROUGH TUESDAY EVENING FOR ELEVATIONS ABOVE 1400 FEET...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN STATE COLLEGE HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WATCH...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING THROUGH TUESDAY EVENING.

A STORM SYSTEM OVER THE OHIO VALLEY WILL INTENSIFY AS IT MOVES JUST TO THE SOUTH OF PENNSYLVANIA TONIGHT. THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE EXPECTS THE RAIN TO TURN TO SNOW OVER THE MOUNTAINS OF WESTERN AND NORTHERN PENNSYLVANIA DURING THE EVENING HOURS.

THE ELEVATIONS ABOVE 1400 FEET WILL COOL MORE RAPIDLY...AND WILL SEE THE GREATEST SNOW ACCUMULATIONS FROM THIS STORM. ACCUMULATIONS BY TUESDAY AFTERNOON COULD REACH 6 INCHES OR MORE IN THOSE HIGHER ELEVATIONS...WHILE THE VALLEY LOCATIONS SHOULD SEE A SLUSHY FEW INCHES OF SNOW.

THE SNOW IS EXPECTED TO TAPER OFF TO SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS DURING THE AFTERNOON HOURS ON TUESDAY. THE SNOW THAT FALLS DURING THE DAYLIGHT HOURS MAY NOT ACCUMULATE APPRECIABLY WITH TEMPERATURES IN THE MID 30S.

AGAIN...MOST OF THE SNOW THAT ACCUMULATES FROM THIS EARLY-SEASON EVENT WILL BE ON THE RIDGES...AND ESPECIALLY DURING THE NIGHTTIME HOURS TONIGHT. A SIGNIFICANT TRAVEL IMPACT MAY OCCUR AS MANY OF THE MAJOR ROADS GOING ACROSS CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA TRAVERSE THE HIGHER TERRAIN.

THE HEAVY WET SNOW WEIGHING ON FOLIAGE-COVERED TREES COULD CAUSE DOWNED TREES AND POWER OUTAGES.

DUE TO THE MANY UNCERTAINTIES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS DEVELOPING WINTER WEATHER SITUATION...A WINTER STORM WATCH HAS BEEN ISSUED. A WINTER STORM WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT SNOW ACCUMULATION THAT MAY IMPACT TRAVEL. HOWEVER...IF HEAVY SNOW BECOMES IMMINENT...A WINTER STORM WARNING WILL BE ISSUED.

Bring on the ice!!!!!!!  <br />

First we have snow, then we have cold, then we have ice, then we have a very happy Byron. If I could get the smillies to work, I'd have lots of them on this page..........
80% of Americans are unhappy with the direction our once great Country is heading. Yet 80% of Americans insist on buying blue jeans that were made in China, coffee filters that were made in Taiwan and anything else that was made anywhere but here........wonder if there might be a connection?

Had an inch or so here in Altoona, but it has since melted.  I have 33 degrees here at my house right now.  State College was reporting 3 inches, but some of the ski resorts within an hour of me got between 8 and 12 inches.  There are alot of power lines and trees down at elevations above 1500 feet.  It was a beautiful day.  ;D

We have 1 to 3 inches (snow not ice) in the higher elevations in NEPA this morning.  Some areas were reported as having up to 8 inches.  Shouldn't last long though, 60 degrees by the weekend. :'(
