Here in Indiana, we are allowed 3 lines with only two hook .  Any combinations jigging pole and two  tip ups or all tip ups.

In Michigan we have spearing through the ice season for pike, we also have a lottery for spearing sturgen.  This takes place on one lake (black) usually just one day. I talked with a guy who has done this he said that the sturgen tastes like pork. He gave it a lite breading and deep fried bite sized cubes. Sure sounds good. I remember one year the season only lasted 35 min. That's how long it took to get that years limit.

here in wisconsin we're allowed 3 lines , both during open water and on the ice

as far as spearing goes , i think only the indians are allowed to spear and there is much controvercy over the issue as i have personaly seen 2 guys haul out 75 walleyes last spring and just dont see how thats legal or right

ant other opinions???

i think we should at least be able to have one jigging rod plus two tip ups so you could jig for perch while pike fishing

Like edfalc said, here in wisconsin, we can have 3 lines, and as far as i know, you can spear here. At least on lake Superior anyway.  I know a couple of people that aren't native american that spear.  Oh yeah I forgot though, it's for pike only, and they have to be the legal size of 26".  I also have seen natives take many, many fish, and i think a stop should be put to this.

you guys aren't allowed as many lines as I thought, but still a lot more than 2 like here in colorado, and that is if I pay the $4.00 american which to you canadian chaps is like $200 ;D ;) ;)(no offense intended, you guys have better looking money than our ugly money after all)
if anybody from michigan will help me out with the lakes and stuff up here I'd really appreciate it since I'm new to the area.

WI boys - just a word of warning - Here in cheesehead country, it's three "baits", not three lines.  If you're using three lines all with jigging rapalas (technically three hooks each, 9 hooks total, 3 lines total) you're perfectly legal.  But, if you're using one line with 4 individual jigs (one hook each, 4 hooks total, 1 line total) tied to it you're illegal.  Don't go gett'n fined over some goofy technicality.

In Florida you get as many ice fishing poles, hooks on each line, and tip-ups as you want.  One problem there is never ice.   ;D

In Ohio you can use 2 rods  (up to 3 hooks on each) and 6 tip-ups per person.

Since this thread is a few seasons old... Maybe a few laws have changed?

NY is 5 traps and two hand lines except on lake Champlain where it is 15 tip-ups.
Just a wacky thought ....NY goes out of the way to say tip-ups are not angleing, so the 15 hook points and 5 baits per line apparently does not apply to tip-ups. ???  No one can tell for sure if there is a limit to the number of hooks  on a tip-up.

Here in Minnesota it's 2 lines. However you choose to use them.
Dirtball2,.......How long has it been 2 lines in Minnesota?  Several(about 20) years ago a friend and me was in a boat on Leech lake when you were only allowed 1 line and my friend got ticketed because he was using 2 poles.  I told him the law was 1 pole but he wouldn't listen.

You guys make me want to vomit
Here in BC Canada we are allowed only one line with one hook >:(
But in summer you can use 2 lines in a boat if you are alone.
So when I go icefishing sometimes I would like to bring a blow up dingy and drill 2 holes and put the boat in the middle ;)
Or maby an inflatable doll but be sure they are licensed. :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:  :woot:

I'll be 49 this year and just have to face reality that when I bought my house in 1986 and was paying less than 900.00 bucks a year in school & property Taxes. Now for the same property am paying over 4000.00 in a rural area (one traffic light). The guy down the road from me who just built a new house is over 10,000.00 for school and land Taxes.
Don't want to leave but, unless the tax man says other wise, the writing is on the wall.

That depends on how far I am from a conservation officer. In northern manitoba Ice fishing allows 2 lines. Only one line for non ice fishing. You can split that one main line into 2 lines with a pickeral rig. Have to use barless hooks and dead minnows too. Lifes rough sometimes
