I'm counting tipups and jig poles as one here.

Here in colorado we can only have 2 lines :'(
both can be a tipup, or neither can be a tipup, or you can have 1 tipup and 1 jig pole.

I think this is pretty unfair to us, but what are you guys allowed? Seems I'm reading a lot of you are having 10 tipups and jig poles :o sure wish I could have that :'(
if anybody from michigan will help me out with the lakes and stuff up here I'd really appreciate it since I'm new to the area.

In NY your allowed 5 tip-ups with up to 15 hook points on each and 2 jig poles. Get 3 guys together and 15 tip-ups, you can cover some water.  ;D

You guys make me want to vomit
Here in BC Canada we are allowed only one line with one hook >:(
But in summer you can use 2 lines in a boat if you are alone.
So when I go icefishing sometimes I would like to bring a blow up dingy and drill 2 holes and put the boat in the middle ;)

6 lines total for non-lake trout lakes.
2 lines total for lake trout lakes.

That is here in the "live free or die trying" state of Cow Hampshire

In Vt it depends on the lake...

Lake Champlain (Vt side) 15 lines.
Most other lakes 8 lines.
2 trout lakes in the NEK (Little Averil and Seymour) 4 lines

Just FYI....I believe on the NY side of Lake Champlain you are allowed 15 tip-up and 2 hand lines.

Here in Michigan you are allowed only 2 lines, use them any way you like. Just in the past few years they have allowed 3 lines for trolling the great lake and tributaries I'm hoping they will extend this to all lakes year round trolling or not.  I live very close to the Indiana border so I fish there a lot in Indiana it's 3 lines anyway you want to use them. I have a hard time imagining using 15 tip ups, on a good day you would be busyer than a one legged man in a a$$ kicking contest!

New York gives us 2 hand lines and 5 tipups or 5 tipdowns for a total of 7 if you're game. I only need one jig pole and I'm all set but some guys go for the max.

Really depends on where we are at during season.Somedays I use 1 pole. Other day's I put the tip-ups in.I always carry them sometimes they are great fish locators,Too bad your sharing the information with everone within sight of you.

Hey Mr. G.  South Dakota allows 4 lines through the ice only.  Open water you can only have two.  See page 33 of the 2004 Fishing Handbook.  Fishtale]

The 2 line limit in Sask for a province this size, with that many lakes and so few people really surprises me, as does the limit in other states and provinces. I feel fortunate to be in NY where the 7 line limit ( 5 tip-ups plus 2 jig lines ) is allowed. Granted, we are blessed with many bodies of water to fish, but we also have 19 million residents competing for the fish, so I am surprised our state allows so many lines. You fisherman in Sask and other places may get the last laugh though. If there are a lot of lightly fished lakes, then 2 tip-ups could be more productive than the 5 I am allowed. 500 tip-ups would not help me if the place is fished out. I have been totally skunked on too many days using 5 tip-ups, or even 10 in Champlain. Put another way, it's not how many lines you can have in the water that counts, it's the number of fish laying on the ice.
