I ran out of roe one time and I had a couple crawlers, so I tipped them on my spoon and I caught a few small ones jigging right on the bottom.

Frankly they eat just about anything. Look at their gut, just like a fat guy at a pie eating contest.

I know what you mean brother, I was fishin one night last year and all I had left was a pile of half fuzzy dead minnows and a stale bolony sammich. I put 4 dead dace on the hook and folded the piece of bolny up, dropped it on the bottom, right at dark caught a 5 pound  ling!

Bologne.....   it was the smell.  I ran out of bait on my six lines and took my last hot dog on split it on two traps.  both had fish in the morning and the other traps.... well still had shiners.

I know how to spell bologna and sandwich, I just spell how I talk.

Makes me think I should just buy a pile of cheap bolony and fish with that...Truth be told I was tryin to catch a catty through the ice but got a black beauty instead ;D

We fish about 6 inches off the bottom, or you can put a weight about 6 inches above your hook and add a marshmallow to the worm.  Our best bait has been smelt from the grocery store.

We've been catching a bunch on jigs tipped with nightcrawler this week.
