Borrowing from many of the designs on this epic thread, I have crafted my own very fine Smitty Sled. I have a Clam sixpack which is quite large. I wanted a dedicated space on the sled to toss it on and lash it down. Also I had no pre-existing jetsled or otter to attach to the top so I crafted my own lightweight box. Everything stays true to the tool-less assembly/disassembly model, the box attaches with two torsion straps to the eye-bolts on the struts. Amazing thread guys, glad to be a part of it and a big thanks to Smitty!(Image removed from quote.)(Image removed from quote.)(Image removed from quote.)(Image removed from quote.)(Image removed from quote.)(Image removed from quote.)(Image removed from quote.)(Image removed from quote.)(Image removed from quote.)(Image removed from quote.)(Image removed from quote.)(Image removed from quote.)(Image removed from quote.)(Image removed from quote.)(Image removed from quote.)(Image removed from quote.)MB
Quick question for all you guys. It is possible that this has been asked and answered elsewhere in this thread but I have not read in detail all 77 pages!I am interested in building a custom hitch to connect my smitty to the back of a snowmobile or ATV. I'm wondering if any of you have any input on how I should go about this? The store-bought kits don't look like they will work for my application. I am thinking about going with 3/4" steel conduit with flattened ends drilled out with carribeaners to connect to the smitty/atv (hopefully through the ski-tips). Any experience towing a heavy-ish smitty behind an ATV/Snowmobile?Thanks!

Welcome to Ice Shanty Hans, I hope you'll get more use out of it than most of us here in the US are getting. It looks good.
I picked up a free pair of downhill skis today! Win! I'm going to save them for my next sled, after I figure out what I want to change off sled #2.
Smitty, what's the best size risers to use? I have 2x6s, 2x8s, 2x10s, and 2x12s laying around I can make them out of.
Thanks for the info Smitty0312. I was thinking the 2x8s would be better since I'm going to recess the 2x4 cross pieces.
Thanks for the tip Pal, how far in from the arch of the ski did you put your front riser?
