who makes a good quality reel?
« on: Nov 25, 2006, 03:00 PM »
Hello, I am new here and fairly new to ice fishing as a whole. I bought a ugly stick combo, like the rod, hate the reel. Can anyone recommend a good reel. Use will be mainly for panfish, but hopefully soon walleye too.
Thanks.

Shimano Symetry 750!

Check out the equipment boards, I have seen several threads going on this subject.

The Tica SB500's are hands down the best UL reels I have used to date. No wobble/play in either shaft or handle. the drag is ultra smooth and the anti reverse has no play.

I'd agree with the Tica vote... I've been using one for a couple of seasons now. The drags are great on them for real light line jigging. The Okuma Epixors aren't a bad reel either
