Ski Wheeler
« on: Dec 13, 2012, 01:04 AM »
I saw this video and thought it was pretty cool. I just so happened to see an old trimoto for sale the other day. I have an AC TRV, but this would be about 400 lbs lighter and not that hard to modify. Granted my old lady would never allow me to have another machine.

Saw this video last year and ever since I've been looking for a three wheeler...always about $800 for one that runs half the time...

You can do the same thing to 2wd sport quad.

I've wanted to do it for a while!!

You can even add tracks to the rear instead of tires if you wanted to.  Make the quad into a sled of sorts only with a manual gearbox.

It would be nice to only have a few hundred dollars into the whole set up though. An old 3 wheeler $200-$500, old skis are easy to find, then just some square tubing and angle iron and you're all set. Redneck as all hell, but it would work.

Why not just pick up a 250 bravo for cheap or something
along that lines. A snowmobile will get you a lot more places
than that rig. Probably cheaper too by the time you modify
a three wheeler.

Unless you put tracks on the back a 3 wheeler will go through the same amount of snow with a large tire in the front. I have 4 honda ATC's and they go almost anywhere with some good tires on the back. I fabbed a ski up last winter just to try and the wide tire performed better so I scrapped the ski. But if I ever get around to buying a set of tracks then I may have to make a new ski :D if you get a lot of snow and can only afford one machine go with a cheap sled, I only use the trikes early ice, late ice and when we had a winter like last year with almost no snow.
