After seeing other post about people making there own DIY jaw jacker/lip ripper/slammer board projects, I figured I would give it a shot. Might try it out tomorrow. Let me know what you think. (besides the fact that I am using my daughters reel)

looks good! so how light of a pull does it take to set it off? looks like the angle of that metal hanging on to you poles eye it would take quite a bite to set it off?

It actually has a hair trigger. I might need to tighten it up a bit if I use live bait of any size. I'm sure medium/large shiner would probably set it off. I just have to try it and see where I need it.

Nice. I love seeing people's attempts at making their own gear. Good for you. Let's hear how it works, etc.

Looks good! How about a few construction details/materials? I'm particularly wondering what that flexible elbow is. Sure feels good to have immediate success with a new gadget, doesn't it?

Yes, it's was definitely a surprise to see it work flawlessly the first trip. Only downfall is that's less that I get to jig up. One huge benefit is NO cold hands like using a tip up.
There's a little bit of everything. The structure is some pvc soffit board I had at the house wrapped in blue duck tape. There is a clothes rod hanger at the base of the 1.5" pvc flexible pipe. The pipe is for plumbing in tight areas, it has a 6" rigid base then the flexible bend. There is metal coat hanger, for the trip mechanism, the piece of rubber is cut off from and old pair of boots. Then just some standard hardware.
