Took my 8 yr old daughter out this year for her 2nd season and she caught her first perch on a jig pole.  I was so excited (and didn't want the fish to die) that I forgot to take a picture.  Last year when I took her we only caught 2 perch.  One was on a tip-up and the other on the pole I was jigging with.
As someone once said, "There is a big difference between fishing with a kid, and taking a kid fishing."  Whenever I take the kids now, I'll do whatever it takes to make sure They catch fish.

Good job on getting the little guy out and into fish...congrats.  They do have big, pure smiles when they catch fish, don't they?

I forgot to say, "nice fish" and thanks for introducing the little guy to a great sport.  Looks like you have a fishing partner for life.

Congrats to both your son and you! Congats on his first fish and congrats for taking the time to bring him fishing! He will remember that fish forever. Like Jerry M. says: To Dad, who always had time to take me fishing.
