i've been using 50lb mono lately and its working awesome...havent got anything too huge it yet, but have had them on, only lost them because i was hooked right in the lip and my hole was to small...

Not sure about the 40lb floro though kinda over kill, I use 38lb.

They were out of 38lb in the brand I like so I risked the up sizing in diameter because I'm loyal to the brand.
