Looks like it's time to pay NYS some cash and register the snowmobile to get around out there next weekend
I was able to camp on the one hole all day and get 11 to the top side. I got another nice one, but am forced to hold out until I can figure out how to blur backgrounds.
You can edit the photo on photobucket and one option is a white out pen, you can use that to white out the background
I saw pics on my Facebook feed of a 34 1/2" 14 lber. Beautiful fish.
Thanks a bunch man! The fish isn't really a trophy by many standards, but it's my biggest of the year and marks one of my best days jigging trout. The waiting dead stick that we all discussed a couple days ago was the hot ticket. I had to force myself to set the rod down anywhere from 3-10' off the bottom and wait for a mark. Then, be ready to start coming up before the fish gets a good look at it. If I waited too long, I got no chase from the fish. If I start my retrieve too hard, the fish would rise 10-20' and it would lose interest. The best retrieve for me was no faster or slower than a fleeing bait fish. Worth noting. I spent a lot of time bouncing from jig to jig. The trusy 'ol Buckshot spoons produced 18 of my 19 fish in my last 2 trips. A white pimple took 1 fish yesterday. Nothing on plastics and nothing on white bucktails. That could also be attributed to how I'm working them.
Funny .... i have been having far more luck with a 4 inch smelt on a jighead than spoons.
I didn't try any smelt. LolYou got more nads than I do man!
What happens in the shanty stays in the shanty Just Kidding ..... i realized when i read it i should have explained it a little more .... i have been using the Berkley Gulp version of a 4 inch smelt. I have been coating it in smelt oil but the guy i took last weekend just bought me a smelt wand. It looks like a chapstick container and it actually smells more than the oil!
Had 10 guys fishing but only landed 3 keeper walleyes, but none were large enough to even bother trucking it to the weigh in and risk killing them. We also landed two small pike and one of two very small eyes. Very slow though for the amount of guys and tipups. Wasn't nearly as windy as they forecasted so that made it much more enjoyable. Happy about that.
Thanks a bunch man!The most beautiful part of it. I had just invested the day before in a really heavy rod to add to the arsenal. The one fish I caught on that rod was the one I needed it for. Couldn't have worked out better.
Should have just ate them. You will never taste a walleye that has the unique flavor of ones caught from the king!!.
Ventured out yesterday past the crown into middle of nowhere. Had the lookers. Plenty too. But just would not give in. Tryed plenty. Had a good time otherwise. Wind blew hard.Even the perch had the same attitude. Come up and look. But would not take.
