Wow 14-16 inches of ice Jimmyrig... Best I have seen this year is 12". Can't wait to brave the storm and drive north tomorrow and get my lines in. It's been a few years since fishing with any real snow on the ice. I wonder what effect the storm will have on the derby but I for one am Looking forward to the challenge.

I have been fishing on a measured with a tape 15" and this is a trout lake, not a small pond...

Does one receive a fine for simply driving on a "public way?" Not all. Do they receive fines for breaking the law? Yes. There are no laws against driving on a "Public Way." End of story.

I think it's a little harsh to give him a hard time over it, nobody knows the full story. A lot of people have been driving on the ice this year and it encourages others to do so as well. I personally don't feel safe driving my own truck out there, but to each their own. There is a lot of people that don't understand how much impact those bubblers have on the ice, and they may think they parked/driving far enough away only to find their vehicle  going in the drink. I can guarantee that was a bad day for that dude, and I'd hope it never happens to anyone I know.

Been fishing on 15"+ all week on the lake...yes the big lake ..and driving out to my spot.   Pretty judgemental to think there aren`t some that have the experience and knowledge to drive safely on the ice. Common sense must rule at all times.   I know when I drop ice cubes in my evening drink they float.

Wanting the .gov to handle something, give them more power.  The more power the .gov has the less money and freedom you have.  It's a pretty simple formula.
