i watched the video on how to get the hook out and was telling my best friend(who is also on here icesniper) about it and we got bored on the ice today and he decided to put a hook into his arm on purpose to see if it worked. LOL!!!! it actually worked verrrrrry good

Sounds like alcohol may have been involved! ;D

If you're not alone,

loop the line onto the barb, push the hook eye down (toward the finger that is hooked) and have a friend quickly jerk the hook out using the loop of line for a "handle".

Soak in Wiskey or Bourbon for 15 seconds, then take at least one ounce internally as needed to dull the pain.

Here's a vid of how it's done:

P.S.  When you get the Emergency room bill, just think of how much Ice fishing equipment that would buy.

Hope this helps,

Wiener

Not to say I never did anything like that.....I usually dont tell anyone.  Lucky for me I never had to go to the ER for removal.

Hey it could have been worse.......will leave that to the imagination!

I took my wife to the ER to get a hook out of her finger. The doctor had too many issues with how it should be done. Ha I finally took the forceps from him and had it out in about 5 seconds. Ha I still got the bill and no discount for doing it myself.

Had a cousin put one through the fatty part of his hand after falling on my tackle box, his brother and I held him down and pulled it out with a pliers, he cried like a B...H it sucked too be him that day... and it was a big treble hook off of one of my pike spoons when I was living in Minnesota...

   Good job kid.
Next time just take out your Buck knife and lop the finger off above the knuckle.
A couple shots of Jack and a little duct tape you'll be good to go ;D

Reminded me of a day in an upstate NY lake when the Fishing was awesome and I reached into my tackle box and impaled my thumb DEEEEP with a rapala! It was definitely a trip to the ER but I couldn't end the day soooooo.........a needle nose pliers, a trusted fishing buddy and a good yank took care of it.  :woot:

I still can picture my thumb skin streching literally 2-3 inches (no exaggeration) and a short pain and a little blood (maybe a lot) and I was back fishing and no co-pay!! bleeding stopped after about 20 minutes...

sometimes I have night terrors about it, but no regrets...... :cookoo:

Loop trick works like a charm.  Have taken several out of myself and others.  Last one was this summer on the first fish I caught during a bass tournament.  Deep treble in back of my thumb, my step son says "that looks like a trip to the ER".  He couldnt believe how easy it was to get out with the loop.

If it was just in to the flesh and not hurting any thing important, nerves, major vessels then I would just have popped it all the way through and cut it off. Sanitized as well as I could there, better at home, watched it and only go to Dr. if needed and when it would not interfere with fishing.
Yeah but you dont fish enough to have that happen buddy ;D ;D ;D
No, I mean I REALLY REALLY LOVE TO FISH!!!
