Wanted: Original Rinehart Tip Ups
« on: Feb 27, 2018, 02:17 PM »
I am in search of the original round or flat Rinehart tip-ups that were made in Janesville, WI.  I use these every year and I would like 2-3 more for when my son starts to fish.  Thank you.

I’m pretty sure Frabil bought them out, they look identical.
I do have an original but it doesn’t work anymore it got run over by a snowmobile.

They do "pop-up" on E-bay from time to time (try Craigslist too).......... Good luck on your hunt. I have found some "favorite" items on there that are no longer made. Keep track of the bidding though I just lost a long rod that somebody out bid me on in the last mins. of the auction.  :'(

You can do saved search on both Craigslist and eBay so when one comes up you'll know about it.

Not to sway you off your search but I had a few of those years back and they just did not have the quality and function I wanted. Flag is way too short and the plastic gets brittle over time. I do think that Frabil bought or copied the design and so did other companies.

I have a dozen of the HT Polar-Therm Extreme ones that are way better but the same principal. 6 of them fit in a 5 or 6 gallon bucket, they have a tackle box and the best part is they have a retractable flag like an old radio antenna that is much more visible.

No problem with you searching for what you want but IMO there are now much better ones out here that do the same. I would like to find 2 more Jack Traps just like the 5 I already have because here in NY we can now use 7 lines.

Yea when I tried the original ones I didn’t really like them that much. Flag way to short in snow. I went back to my old beaver dams with a foam hole cover.
