Look what I caught this afternoon. 5 inches of ice. On my little 9 inch Marmish rod. Buddy caught one and I caught these. He is an old schooler and fishes with a ice rod. His loss. Did catch a few brookies in the am.

Thanks for the help VC. Muchly appreciated. ;)

Oh just great, now I'm getting a red X.
Anyone else have this problem?
I love my Marmish rod, ultra sensitive and always outfish my buddies. Check out their website:
www.marmish.ca
It tells you how to use it.
Nice to see there are going to be some marmish jigs as prizes in the online tourney.

Terry, with Sharemation they only allow so many hits per day and then they don't allow the picture to be viewed any more that day. After midnight they start the cycle over again. That's why you'll be able to see it in the morning and then later in the day (after a bunch of people have viewed it) it usually comes up as a red X. There are other picture hosting places. I like photobucket.com, but not sure if they are accepting new accounts right now.

They had a bunch of those rods at the show in St. Paul this weekend. Looked neat. Looked like you can pack a nice rod in a small space.

Yeah it is a hole new way of fishing. Takes some getting used too though. I have gone on lakes were there were 20-25 people fishing. Some were leaving at noon saying "They are not biting today". No one caught that day except I iced 15 rainbows in a couple of hours. They were right, they were not biting that day, but they were mouthing it. I had a small green ant on that day and when they mouthed the ant it lifted the bite indicator just a bit, so I set the hook. The hooks were imbeded in the upper lip not far inside the mouth. I got lots of looks when guys came over to see what I was using and why I was catching and they were not. One fellow said "I can't believe you catch fish with that cracker jack rod". Hand lining definitely goes against the "normal" means of icefishing. The lures you use are small and must be used with the right bite indicator. If you have a big fish on you squeeze the reel to create drag and when done running you handline carefully in. The reel is only wound in when you are done fishing for the day or moving a great distance to your next hole. My buddies think I'm crazy for using such light line but I always out fish them together. They much prefer to feel the tug on their heavy 6-12lb line and yank em up.
