4 wheeler, no need for runners unless your takin it across rough terrain, the runners protect your shanty. it pulls just fine by hand or machine

yeah I have a polaris 500ho to tow it when there's enough ice, will also be pulling it by hand for early season...weight isn't an issue, just looking for a little protection for the bottom that wont break the bank, I will be going down roads a bit and some parking lots when towing with the wheeler so looking to keep the bottom in good shape...

We make sleds out of 3/4" conduit. That you load your sled on and off real easy to use pulls with two fingers and saves the bottom of your plastic sled.
When the ice is on. I'm on the ice.

Hey fish tank, I'm finally buying a shanty after 6 years. The reason I never did before was because of the heavy Lake Effect snow we get, almost never a day without 6-18 inches of snow on the ice or slush, I walk a minimum of 3/4 mile to my holes one way, what's the best option for me with bad ACL's in my knees!  Do they make special runners or just pick up some old Ski's!  Thanks!!

You should look into an otter. They are a lot better then the clam on snow. Wish I had money for a snowmobile. :flex:

I have a 1 person fish trap I had runners on and a 2 person with ski's & the ski's were 10 fold better.  Same gear in both.  I would reccomend Snagger you make something to elevate yours up a little.  I saw somewhere on here someone mounted pipes to the side of the trap that raised it up about a foot or so that just poped off when you were ready to fish.  I can pull my 2 person over snow with no problems, bigest thing is to get a longer pull rope

i just found an old set of skis someone was throwing away boolted them to the bottom of my scout it pulls 100 times better even with the bolt heads sticking thruogh the bottom,my skis will prolly need to be changed after this season which is the 3rd season with them on my sled but i do drag my sled across dirt and blacktop quite often so anytime i see a set of skis in the trash i grab them up so i have  plenty replcements

haven't built yet...  I didn't want to "re-create the wheel" - seems like it would pull easier, the less surface that is on the snow.. I'm not an engineer though...  i have some spare 24" tires - so snow would have to be 12" deep before it hits the axles.  Axle assembly would flip up to drop the shanty down when i'm ready to fish.
