Is getting bait In the area a issue while derby is going on ?

not usually. depends on the supply from down south. most are brought up from auburn. if supply is limited down there, there won't be much available up here because they take care of dealers down there 1st. id call a couple days before.

Price is not the  issue it’s a 5 hour drive to get there if I had to bring bait was just hoping to get up there I will be there all week as well.

Tipman.  I live in Readfield and have a place on Square Lake.  Everytime I go up I bring multiple dozens of smelts and I always get from Cobbossee bait right in Manchester/Winthrop.  He will bag them up and put the O2 right to them and they will be good for days.  I used to get bait up there when going up and I would have terrible luck with them after having to snowmobile them in.  I now have no problem making the 5 hour drive with 7 or 8 doz and get them into camp.  Once I open the bag I keep an aerator on them but they will be good the whole time I am there.  In my experience he has the best bait in Central Maine.
