atv for ice fishing
« on: Feb 14, 2016, 10:57 PM »
So not knowing much about atv's I decided I needed one to continue my ice fishing adventures. I have done a bit of research and am wondering if I am dumb in purchasing a yamaha kodiak 700 eps se? Or is my research spot on and this will be a good machine for me. Any help in my decision is appreciated it is a big purchase for me so any info will help me. Primary use is ice fishing 90% of the time other 10% is giving my kids rides on gravel roads.

Personally I would get a SxS. Theyre imo a way better vehicle for ice and just about anything else.

Put a good windshield on it and you'll be good to go. I spent the extra money and put a VIP air on my King Quad and it's worth every penny !! Good Riding

I think the Yamahas are great machines. Only complaint I've heard is they sometimes can be more finicky starting in cold weather. They use a 20 AH (amp hour) battery because of space issues and isn't enough power in sub zero temps. I personally use a Polaris Sportsman 400, which comes factory with a 30 AH battery and have never had an issue with it starting.

Like stated, 4x4 is necessary and maybe some chains for the wheels?

Or a set of tracks!
