i usually tie a barrel swivel to the ice line with a palomar knot, then tie my fluoro tippet to the swivel using the fish-n-fool knot. if you're looking to tie the lines together use the albright knot. albright- http://www.animatedknots.com/albright/index.php?LogoImage=LogoGrog.jpg&Website=www.animatedknots.com
Thanks for the comebacks. Joining light mono to light fireline with the traditional blood knot sometimes just slips apart for some reason, even though this is the joining knot I most commonly use. It gives me fits with this particular combination. Mono to mono works fine, braided to braided works fine. Mono to braided just slips apart when I go to pull the knot together.I will try both the Albright Knot and the Back to Back Uni Knot today on the tipdowns. It looks like these will join dissimilar lines well. Should have remembered these from the days when I fly fished. Thanks for the reminders. For you all, here is another pretty nice link to a website that actually shows video demonstrations of how to tie various knots. It supports many of your suggestions.http://videofishingknots.com/joining-lines.htmlGood Luck out there. Please pay attention to conditions. Live to fish another day!Stay Sharp, Be SafeGrady
Uni to Uni. Can't slip apart, and not too hard to tie.
