Title: Not too sure if Jumbo's is a big enough word(updated Pg.2 EVEN BIGGER)
Post by: dwaytkus on Feb 09, 2008, 08:10 PM: Managed to bring home 9 of these pigs today. Look how small the two 9 1/2" crappies look in comparison. A couple of these perch tipped my digital scales at 1 1/2lbs. :o

I fish Lake Erie for perch alot.We get perch in the 11" to 13" regularly.14" and 15" fish occasionally.Don't let the comments of one person take anything away from your catch.Fisherman do tend to exaggerate a little.Your proof is in the pictures.Those are Erie class perch in my book.GOOD JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!

Most of the perch I've caught in Lake Erie were on the small side.

BTW Dway those are monster perch anywhere!

Did you ever hear the phrase A PICTURE IS WORTH A 1000 WORDS. I've been on this earth for a long time and have done alot of fishin' for Perch on the softwater and hardwater. I've never seen a (20 inch.?) perch, let alone caught one. And yes I've fished Lake Erie. SHOW US THE PICTURES

Post by: dwaytkus on Feb 10, 2008, 06:21 PM: Well made it back to my honeyhole today with my nephew. We managed to put a few more of these pigs in the bucket. And we managed two that topped out at 1 lb 10 oz. :o
These are the only perch that I can ever remember catching and thinking they were bass when you hooked them and took drag out!

Are you sure ? If you can catch fish like that you better open a guide service because you would be a rich man if you can put people on fish that big .
The largest Yellow Perch " EVER " recorded is 19.6 inches and 4.2 pounds !

I took a walk over to the consession/weigh-in station on the ice and saw a perch hanging up that was huge. it was behind the counter so i could not walk up to it and put a tape to it. but it had to be in the 17 to 18 inch range. I'm sure some of you guys must have seen it if you were there.

Any taxidermist can paint smallmouth to look like perch!!! LOL.

We all know Erie puts out tons of 20" smallmouth. 20" perch, Give me a break. A 20" perch would be a New York, Pennsylvania, or Ohio state record.

i got one today 13-1/4 4 inch girth if i can figure out how to put it on here i will what is ny state record ??? ???

Since I raise perch for a part of my livelihood if I had to make an educated guess I'd say at least 16 1/2 inches maybe 17 inches. Of course it could also have been an old fish that was even longer but thinner.

they dont taste as good as smaller ones a little fishey i think ill throw the big ones back but i hate to :-\ :'( :'(
