NW Iowa Farm Pond Ice Thickness
« on: Dec 04, 2006, 02:45 PM »
Has anyone been out on any farm ponds in NW IA? Just wondering how thick the ice is on the smaller bodies of water? I'm a fairly big guy and don't venture out until 6 inches of ice, :o so I have to wait a couple more weeks before going out on the lakes. When I have gone out on less than six inches I am usually so scared I don't have much fun.

Was on a small pond yesterday. 5 miles north of Hwy 20. Ice was 3 1/2 inches. Caught quite a few fish though !!! ;D
