Lacrosse ice fishing
« on: Jan 05, 2019, 10:14 AM »
Hi folks I’m going to try this on here but not sure of the results. I’m coming up to Lacrosse next week to try the area for the first time ice fishing. Just would like to try something different and it’s always interested me. Just wondered a couple things. How far of a walk is it from the Nelson Park landing through the woods out to the airplane lights ? I kinda figured maybe a half mile ? Or is it better to bring a ATV and go on at Schaefer’s ? And fish that area (is that the dredged area they talk about). I plan on during the week but I’m sure they’re will be others out to kinda gauge a general area. Like I said it’ll be my first time there so maybe we’ll get some maybe not. Thanks Glenn

I just fished this area by the lights.  Google maps shows a distance of about .6 miles from the landing at Nelson park to the lights.  The walk is very easy, except pulling your sled through the woods without any snow cover.  If you pack light, it's not a problem.  We caught a bunch of gills and some perch.  Nothing on tip ups.

Hey guys just saw this ! We did pretty decent for our first time there. Fished off Schafer’s the first day then fished the Lights our second day. We didn’t keep any fish those days but I fished solo Wednesday at the Lights until noon and took home 6 nice perch with one being a 13”r. Never caught any respectable crappies but got some real nice gills. Seems the first day at the Lights all the nice fish were gills then Wednesday it was reversed no gills but nice perch.

how was the fishing up at shafers? I heard theres a bunch of cribs off that landing in the old dredge cuts - we honestly had no reason to go check them out but might on our return trip
