As a rule I'd concentrate on water less than 15' for both. I've caught rainbows suspended just under the ice over deep water but it's a tough pattern to duplicate.
Inflows, points and downed trees or beaver lodges are usually good places to start. If you get a chance, try to hit those lakes in the spring or fall during open water season. It makes it much easier to locate the prime spots. Lastly, not all stocked lakes are created equal but the nice thing is where you find one, you usually don't need to travel too far to find the next one. For me, the presence of bass and or cottages are nonstarters.
