Deet da deet!!

"along what they thought was next to Lake Washington"

I can clearly see a ramp in picture 9. Do those usually connect you from shore to shore?

:roflmao: :roflmao:   It didn't even look like a road, it went from tree lined and plowed to wide open and white :cookoo: Too bad there weren't some shanties out there to make it more obvious.
How many times do I gotta go through holes before I watch where I'm going? I am an amateur fisherman, but an all star minnow drowner!

This occured near Mankato. I know where that spot is - popular access point....

That lot / resort routinely is full in the winter, and its not the first time that
a bunch of vehicles have been parked on shoreline ice. I spoke to a buddy who
lives over that way last week, he told me that they were pushing 10" of ice on
the lakes in that area....am sure the people who parked there thought they
had "safe" ice....

i beleive you are incorrect.  many compnays will cover the cost of you vehicle (sometimes you have to pay extra for that coverage) but they will not cover the recovery fees and deffinatly not the fines.

does your insurance company pay your speeding tickets?  why would they pay these fines?

they will only cover the cost of fixing or repplacing the vehicle.  the rest is up to you.

I'm sure they knew it was a lake but when left alone stupid people do stupid stuff, we get story like this every year. 12 inches will support a vehicle but not 15 parked right next to each other

I DONT CARE I STILL BLEED PURPLE AND GOLD, SKOL VIKINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Call your agent and ask them.  You will be surprised by what they tell you.

Haywood is correct.  If you carry comprehensive coverage on your auto, your insurance company pays for the recovery and damage to your auto if it goes through the ice.

I'm an insurance agent in MN.

seems i remember in recent years a fleet of snowmobile (factory sponsored) race rigs, tractor-trailers etc... all being sunk on a lake in minnesota too ... that was one cool photo! ... need to try to find it again for a good laugh.

i drive a 3/4 ton pickup that will never be on the ice no matter what the conditions ... that's what 4-wheelers are for!

we have a 7x10 trailer that nicely fits a sled and the Otter, side by side.  There was plenty of ice on Pulaski today, just not enough for any of my vehicles.

I was on Washington last friday I saw the spot where the vehicles went in, it was still taped off. There were tons of full size vehicles everywhere on the lake there was about 10"-11" I still wouldn't drive out till theres a solid 15" but thats just me.

I heard a semi driver onetime tell about pulling into a small WI town and needing to turn around pulled out onto this big empty lot swung his rig around and parked for the night where he was unloading the next morning. Turning his paper work in the morning, the buzz was about a big rig that pulled out onto the lake and turned around, he sheepishly picked up his paper work and NEVER said a thing :o
