« on: Jan 01, 2006, 09:04 PM »
Happy New Year to all and a safe winter to all.

Anyone have a location on "Brooktrout Lake" in the Hamilton County town of Morehouse? I can't locate it on my atlas.
Thanks for any help; looking for info and possible access to this.

I HAVE HIKED INTO THE LAKE IN MY YOUNGER YEARS BUT THAT WAS QUITE A WHILE AGO. AT THAT TIME THERE WAS A POPULATION OF BROOKIES TO CATCH BUT SINCE THE ACID RAIN THERE MIGHT NOT BE ANY, A CLEAR AND PRETTY LAKE BUT SMALL. THER IS A TRAIL FROM THE SMALL BROWNTRACT POND THAT WILL TAKE YOU THERE. IT COULD BE DANGEROUS IN THE WINTER BECAUSE THER WAS A BOG THAT YOU USED TO HAVE TO CROSS. AT ANY RATE A NICE HIKE AND PLENTY OF EXCERSIZE. I WOULD CHECK WITH THE DEC BEFORE GOUNG IN. HAVE A BALL. IF YOU GO I WOULD SUGGEST YOU GET A TOPO MAP.WALKING IN THE BIG MOUNTAINS IN THE WRONG DIRECTION CAN BE DASASTROUS.

Thanks for the information; looking for new "off the map" locations to hike and fish in Hamilton County.

But, the NO FISH says it all.

I think the lake you refer to is known on the atlas as  "TROUT LAKE" -  It is south of Rt 8 North, access is from Farm Road.
