start the truck and drive   if you know were to look and put some time in there is a good possibility you'll find safe ice

You serious?  There isn't even safe ice in Ontario or Quebec.  Hasn't been for over a week.

If you have some around Queensbury then you are quite lucky.   It's 35 and raining in Lake Placid today.

some guys will fish on unsafe ice . alot of them get their name in the paper and arent around to read it.

Heck, I remember fishing Snady pond 5+ years ago and some days might only be a few of us out there, now if I want to go on a weekend you have to carpool to find a spot!

iv been getting reports of good ice up north from multiple sources. just because its not posted on here or people havnt heard about it doesnt mean its not out thre.  some people jusnt havnt heard about it yet. ill have some pics up on monday.

I couldn't agree more, I've been fishing Sandy Pond since I can remember. My grandparents lived on the pond my entire life. It's strange how an internet forum can change things. I'm not bashing the shanty in any way. I love this place and i use it to find out information on places whats safe hows the bite just like everyone else. I'm just stating how you can see a change in the popularity of a lake.

Looks like Mason Pond during the Northern Challenge, but there are usually more people and a broken shoreline where you come off the ice.

I mean it's a total different fishery now than back then but I Belive the perch fishing has improved in my opinion but I'm not an expert
