I'm disappointed that it is over, but it is the best time to be on the shanty ! The Drama and Disagreement's go away and the Hard core Cadre that sticks around are great people and we have some great times here during the off season !

MFF covers every region of NorthAmerica from the Florida keys up to Inuvik up at the top of the Northwest Territories ! There is much more interaction here on the shanty then there is on mff ! It does slow down during the off season, but the crew that sticks around makes it worth while to hang out here instead of mff !

winter isnt what it normally was but its great to be alive. only time will tell and i do enjoy the quiet. open water has been good and i have three new great grand children. all diferent mothers in the last three months. you have to love life and i have to say thank you lord.

I feel like the last 2 weeks have been colder than all of feb and march. I have a bad feeling about this summer though... I've been hearing a lot about droughts and really intense storms $:-\$ Not what I need for my massive garden I just tilled

The last day I was on the ice I was in a tee shirt....then I went to the same pond to fish from a rock on open water 2 weeks later and my fingers were numb!

Gotta get out on the salt. I don't get to do it a lot because I live pretty far away and it consumes the whole day to do but there is something about drifting around out there groundfishing that is awesome! Big fan of stripers too. I loved open freshwater fishing till I got into salt, then it was just never the same. Still not icefishing, but second best for sure!

I went up to the Govenors Island property that I maintain Sunday and I was watching the Salmon chasing smelt just off the end of the dock ! Of course I didn't bring a Rod because of the wind, Just my luck !

That's right! When one season changes for another, just throw the proper gear in the vehicle and there it stays all summer. The only things I don't keep in there is the tackle box and the trolling rods.

Thanks for the tip Guinea, just one small problem ! Last time I did that, some how 6" of the rod tip got snapped off !
