He was my brother, my lifetime hunting buddy.  He was the best bowhunter that I ever knew.  He was an excellent and avid angler as well, an outdoors lover if there ever was one.  He was one of the best swim coaches in any of the states that he ever coached, lately in Virginia.  He coached for the kids, bringing the best out in them, a great coach technician, and a wonderful role model.  He graduated from Auburn University after swimming for 4 years on their varsity swim team with a degree in business specializing in HR.  He had several positions in that area and performed excellently and could have taken that career route but instead chose to coach swimming.  The pay was poor in that profession, but the rewards were great.  He was paid with gratitude, not money, knowing that he was touching the lives of many of our youth.  He was a great man, and a great brother.  He passed away yesterday afternoon at the young age of 36 suddenly of heart failure while coaching on deck during a swim meet in Annapolis Maryland, doing what he loved to do.  He was in tip top shape and in my mind would have been the last person I could ever imagine this happening to.

I have a hole in my heart now and miss him so much.  Life is not fair.  Here is a great hunt of his that he shared with us:

Man, sorry to hear about your brother thats got to be pretty tuff on you and the rest of your family.  He sounded like one heck of a good guy, it's crazy how people who are the most in shape and living life the right way can all of the sudden pass without any warning at all

Anybody that fished with Kevin's brother would know he was a special and helpful person. I had the opportunity to fish with Kyle a few times and he was an excellent fisherman. Always willing to help you catch more fish. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. He will be missed.

Man, I feel for you.  I lost my father to a heart attack this past February, he was only 56.  I can't imagine losing a family member, let alone a brother at such a young age like 36.  And sounds like he was physically fit as well.  That makes it all the more jolting.  My sincerest condolances to you and your family.

I'm deeply sorry for your loss Kevin, I can't imagine how tough of a time this must be for you. I know words only go so far, but please know that your family here at IS are deeply sympathetic for your loss, especially considering the untimely passing of your brother during what should be one of the most joyful times of the year. Your brother seems to have been a terrific man, so I hope that you can remember all the great things that he has given to thsi world to help you through these days.

My thoughts and prayers are with you,
Weston Testo

I'm deeply saddened by this news.  Kevin, I'm very sorry for your loss.  I did not know PerchJerker personally, but a fellow fisherman is a brother to me also...a kindered spirit.

I am officially dedicating this upcoming ice fishing season to him.  I will be placing a black ribbon on my sled and stenciling his IS screen name across the back.  May you rest in peace, PerchJerker.

Thanks, Dad, for taking the time to show me how to fish!!

Chuck

This is absolutely terrible.  Such a young man.  Prayers are with you and your family.
Fisherman's Prayer
I pray that I may live to fish
          Until my dying day.
And when it comes to my last cast,
       I then most humbly pray:
When in the Lord's great landing net
           And peacefully asleep,
That in His mercy I be Judged
              BIG ENOUGH TO KEEP.

Kevin; very sorry for your loss. I lost my brother 16 years ago; he was 29. We used to play music together as he was a professional entertainer. Now I run a local blues jam and like to think that I play for both of us. Hang in there. Your brothers spirit will be with you whenever you fish or hunt.

Regards to you and your family.
His white ship has sailed, trust in the fact that yours will dock next to it in heaven.
Peace be with you in this time of grief, may God grant you hope and understanding, now and in time.
