depends what I am fishing for... Trebles I like for Pike (in VT), everything else I use singles I like the octopus hooks with the eye bent backwards I feel I get a better hookset.

I have only used singles for jigging. I don't fish with tip ups.

I use to use trebles, but switched to singles this year, and have been much more sucessful on the singles.
The fish seem to take the single much better than the treble.

Trebble for tip-ups and single for everything else.  Makes things easier.

Since I catch and release 99% of the time I only use single hooks.  Less damage to the fish.

After doing a few out of province trips this last year, both having to be barbless.  I am only running barbless hooks. I have not lost a fish, no more than I did before.  Saying that I have had a few trebles get buried and no trouble removingthe hook.  Most of my winter hooks are treble and pull baldrs most summer with singles.

Treble hooks in most scenarios for me outside of perch fishing.  Ice fishing you have no clue what angle the fish is going to come into your lure and the treble hooks seem to increase my hook ups without decreasing my bites as long as they are not too large. IMO.
Big pike thru a hole are fun!

I use treble almost every time, mostly tip up fishing with live shiners or dead smelt. Maybe I'll try some singles with the live ones this winter, seems like a lot of people prefer those.
