Just one rod? I have something but it's not specifically for a rod. I can snap a pic tonight if you'd like.

I saw a cool one on Clam's site but it doesn't say how long it is.  You could probably contact them and ask.  http://clamcorp.com/Accessories/TackleStorage/RodLocker/tabid/512/Default.aspx

I took an old arrow box and added foam to it. Field Locker makes a few nice boxes.

Arrow case...about $10

I can put 5 rods in it and it's hard sided.

I also have a few of these tubes that I made up. I like them, but the reels is exposed. The other thing is, you have to leave a lot of slack in the line or it can put tension on the rod tip inside the tube. I broke one rod tip. Now I use them for my heavier rods only. No problem with those.

There is a company called Ready Rigs that makes storage bags. a model called (ice fishing professional) is 38 inches in length and holds three rod/reel combos. The bags also has two smaller storage compartments. Two problems with this bag it has a fake shearling lining to protect your reels hook from lures will get caught in this material ,if your line is not tight when put into bag or lure comes loose you will have a tangled mess.
In time i will look into the arrow cases. Two other companies make storage bags Croxton Ice and Stone Creek.

I have a Croxton Pond rod case that is 47". Seemed too long to me until I opened it and it had a divider at about 30". I fit 3 rods in there and the area below the divider, I store all my line!

RG - that is a great idea with the arrow case!

With any case for rods or tips ups I wouldn't buy without seeing first unless dimensions are clearly marked!  I bought a tip up case to sell in our store last year and was really ticked off that only the shortest ones would fit and none of the most popular brands we carry would.  Waste of money!

I love the golf tubes, and if you look, you can get different diameters.  I have three mounted in my scout, so I can slid in the rods while sitting.

I use a hard sided rifle case.  It already has nice cushion for protection of the rods.  I just put some Velcro  on the cushy soft stuff to hold them in place. ;D  I can get 5-7 rods on each side. I also put all my jars of gulp power bait on the the ends.  This works so well I don't know why it took me so long to do this.  I don't have tangles or broken tips any more.  Good luck. you can slip extra rods underneath the cushion.  I have three or four extra rods with no reels under the cushion just in case.

Check out some of the big box discount stores, they usually sell gun cases or arrow cases for a good price.  Just add some foam like rgfixit did, works perfect!

I just bought these after finding two more broken rod tips in a soft storage bag. Plano Moulding Pillar Lock Take-down Shotgun case. 36"x10"x4". Unfortunately for the OP the longest rod you will get in is about 35". $19.99@.

Those cases look great. I think I am going to get one for the two JM 28in. walleye rods I am buying soon. Can't beat the price of these compared to the otter box I was looking at. Thanks.
