Same here, I take about 15 out on the ice with me because none of my friends have gear and they like to go ice drinking lol. I supply the traps and they supply the beer.

I use my heritages and they use the leftover hand me downs ha ha

I'm from mass and when i fish Champlain with the wife and two boys i set up 60!!! lot of work but worth it. I have 35 guys taking a trip up there with me in a few weeks. Thats 525 traps!!!!

all pre-rigged. depending on the lake and fish in it. 3 for pike, 3 for walleye, 2 for perch. plus 6 jig rods for panfish. it's faster and easier to swap out a tip-up or jig pole than re-rigging in the cold. same thing with swapping a lure on a jig rod. it's faster to set one down with a teardrop and grab one with a hali than cutting and tying.

Im liable to have around15 or so in my sled. Some I like for dead baits and some are set up for some of the bigger live baits that we use.. Some are for just in case there are a some more frineds are along

Six. Here in NY we can have 5. I carry one extra in case one breaks. With some of my older ones, it happens.

Here in NH on Trout managed lakes we're allowed 2 line per angler, we run 1 tip up and one jig rod, carry 4 traps total !
On non managed lakes we can run six lines per, because most of the non managed lakes are warm water panfish lakes, any more then 8 total can get really crazy, really fast !!

When I'm fishing in MA I am allowed 5 tips so take 6.....one spare in case I get a fouled up spool......have never actually had one get fouled up but I just like the spare in case.

When I'm in NH on non managed lakes I take 6 plus a spare. It does get crazy though when I'm fishing with the wife and son.......18 tips on the ice and if the fish are slamming it can get interesting. I've had days where we never get all of them set!

We are allowed 5+ 2 jig poles I have 3 for larger fish and 4 for pans.
I normally jig and dead stick but if things are slow I set 2 pan traps near my jigging spot and set 3 large traps out a ways.

I carry six black magics for bass and pickerel fishing. For trout I carry six polars and two bigger cross style traps for lakers all are kept in sled along with a few jig sticks in various sizes.

I just bring two, in MI you are only allowed 3 lines at a time including tip-ups so 2 tip-ups and a jig rod are my normal set-up.

I always carry 24 in my box. We're allowed 6 per person so you never know when some buddys will show up!

my lawyer, the fishcop and i would have a great time in court with this one. i'm fishing Michigan too and iffn they ever tried that crap on my it's speed dial #31 = lawyer. a labled tip-up with a name = legal to me. you gave up too EZ.

I don't understand. A guy could have 15 tip-ups with his name on them out but as long as they had enough folks for the lines you're fine. Each person fishing that tip-up does not have to have their individual name on it, only the owner. Were the kids off doing something else and not close to the tip-ups and part of the fishing party?

i got 10 but carry 5 and (used to be 2 jig poles) 3 jig poles now because they changed the law and allowed us an extra non tipup line here in ny! but i usually only target 1 species of fish when i go on tipups so right now 5 are rigged for walleye/trout/perch and the other 5 are rigged for pike/slime-darts/muskie/ whatever else bites them

I carry 6 with me. We are allowed to use 5 at a time. This gives me a back up if i break something on one, or need a quick rig to drop
in the water while I re-tie everything if i break off on a toothy critter.
