Auger break down. Any ideas?
« on: Jan 26, 2020, 08:43 AM »
I got a hand me down Eskimo pyranha. It has been working great. Starts every time. Was drilling holes last night and and it drilled one great and on the next hole it quit drilling. And now it’s like power isn’t getting to the shaft. Motor runs but the shaft won’t turn with any sort of power. Any ideas? Never had a power auger before so don’t know much. Thanks for the help.

Is it bogging down at all?  How long was it sitting around before you got it?  What's the condition of the blades and center point?  It could be that the carb needs a good cleaning.  I don't know what you mean when you say the it's not turning with enough power cut, could you please explain this in more detail?

You had a spring break or come loose in the clutch.
Easy fix, unbolt the bottom of the clutch case[where shaft comes out].
You can get springs from ace hardware.
Reseal the clutch case with silicon to keep water out, make sure clutch moves freely.

So it starts and runs full throttle. Doesn’t bog down or anything but the blades aren’t turning or if they do it’s verrrry slowly. It was cuttin* fine one minute and then it wasn’t. Going to try looking at the clutch. Any other ideas are appr3ciated. Thanks everyone .

Sounds like a shaft key way sheared off.
