Our own little derby
« on: Dec 09, 2005, 12:59 PM »
How bout a little gathering at the Nip in Bridgewater.   The week b4 the big Derby being put on there by the Bristol County icemasters  - I think Sat. would be the 28th of January.   Something low stakes like 10 clams a person.    Those that are going to enter the following weekends big derby could get a good day of scouting in.

Probably best if it were limited to the guys of the site and their friends.  It would be a good meet and greet.

I wouldn't mind going. How about you guys, Bill, Escape, PJ. We could get a good crew out there.

Seems like we'll easily get the 15-20 people needed to make it fun and cover some area.      I  know the lake moderately well so I can be a help there.    I'll give fishing info to everybody but Bev.  She wins too much :).

Without getting too many chefs in the kitchen, what does everybody think about 6:45 am entry at the island  then go fishing from there (can't miss the island from the main parking off 104).  Conclave/ cookout at the island at 1pm to socialize.   3 places for bass,  1 for pickerel, and 1 for perch.  Judge fish by length - free entry for Mark Barlow if he agrees to house the measuring stick at his shanty.

I think keeping the stakes low and emphasising the social is the best way to go.   A good sharing of tactics might help many of the less experienced.

Lets hear some ideas

Saturday the 28th of Jan.    6:45am   lake is easy to get to as it is right near the intersection of 495 and 24 on rt 104 in Bridgewater.  If you mapquest lakeview drive in Bridgewater you will be led to the parking lot/boat ramp at the head of Lakeview  - can't miss it.
