Only if the wind would lay off a little so the bigger ponds and lakes can get at least a coat of ice, the northeast has had a good amount of wind lately delaying some places from beginning to freeze.  Do all of you think that the wind delays the process of the ponds, lakes icing up?

From what I have seen the wind does slow the process.  I think that we need a couple of really cold nights with no wind and we should be all set.  It looks like the next couple of nights will be good.  Guys everybody all set?  Tip ups all ready to go?  Blades on the augers all sharpend?  I have been ready for months.  BRING THE ICE

This breeze needs to stop for sure, maybe it'll blow till this next snow goes through. I hope the 1" an hour scenario doesn't hold true as forecasted by the Weather Channel. Any Berkshire boys fishing? Got to be close out there in the higher elevated small ponds!

That neck of the woods should be about ready after tonite, which one had 2 1/2, I'd get in the truck for a ride to investigate that one.

it has bass pickeral and perch
1/2 of pond is about 5 feet deep and the other 1/2 is about 10 to 15 feet deep

the action aqt this pond is usally not hot and heavy but with 2 people fishing here we usually average about 6 or 8 fish a day but it is a place for an early start
also depending where you are from it might e worth taking a ride to brrokfield to the back side of quaboag pond but i willl be checking both of these places tomorro

I walked on a small pond today in Peabody. It is only around 3ft deep but the ice was a good 2-3 inches of hard black ice. I checked another pond nearby that is around 15ft deep and that was still not locked up. It was about half iced over. This snow is rreally gonna screw things up tho :-\

Took some pics of the ice today! Pics were taken at Crystal Lake in Peabody. Only 2.5 inches of ice but nice clear hard stuff. The depth of the pond is only 3-4 ft tho.

I will keep my fat a$$ off of the ice for another week or two, last thing I want to do is to go thru. It is and can be a long season but it can be cut real short if you go thru.
