The DEC website does not say car top only but it looked like that type of launch to me. I don't see why it wouldn't be open 24x7.

It is a really nice place to access the pond.

Better to have all of that lake effect land in open water than on weak ice

hopefully all the rotten ice got destroyed before the lake effect hit, at this point its better to start all over as much as it sucks. The pond needs a new start.

Good chance by this weekend there will  be ice. Temps are low and wind is light. I would recommend walking and spud your way out.

Hey folks. A few friends and I are coming from Northeast PA the weekend of Feb. 11. I've heard there is zero ice at this point on Sandy pond. I've also fished south Colwell Pond in the past. Just wondering if anyone thinks it will be safe anywhere or maybe we will need a crash course on steelhead fishing! Haha

Not sure how the ice is but I can tell you I could see open water from my house on wigwam dr Saturday and we got pounded with lake effect yesterday not a good combo. I would look to the far north where they didn't get the snow.

I truly appreciate any information given. I've traveled up this way for about 5 years now but pretty much looking for a guys get away type thing. A friend of mine has a cabin that we will be staying in. I we have to travel too far, we just might stay in the cabin and eat and have beers for the weekend lol thats just as much fun for us!

I just want to throw this out there. I have not seen JBogey post since the very unfortunate incident. It really pains me to think that he should feel any worse then any of us feel about this unfortunate incident. All of his posts he HARPED AND HARPED about  safety first and to spud.  If you read this JBogey my heart is heavy with you and I look forward to your posts and hopefully to catch up with you on the ice..
