I keep anything big enough to get a nice fillet out of. I think it's a macho thing to have to catch a pail of big perch and say I limited out. But the worst thing is to keep all big females and throw the little ones back, and then to say you are doing the lake a favor by throwing the little ones back is completely backwards. Go fish up north if you want to see the results of low pressure perch and not taking many perch. Huge schools of thousands of dink perch up there. It's unreal. I agree with JJ that taking of smaller fish especially perch/bass is beneficial.

Out of curiosity, what separates them from natives if their fin isn't clipiped? How can someone tell ?  I'm not much of a salmon fisherman.

They are not native to LG and there is very little, if any, natural reproduction; that's why we need the stocking to be successful to have good fishing for them.

Any word on how the perch are hitting and the conditions for a 4 wheeler?

I usually keep only decent sized Perch and throw back a ton of fish most people would keep.  However, after hearing what I'm hearing this year I'm thinking it might not be a bad idea if everyone started keeping their first 50 within reason.  We had a farm pond years ago with bullhead in it.  Problem was they were all 4 or 5 inches because there were so many of them.

Yeah I do the same as some are suggesting I figure out the size I am going to keep once I figure out the general size they are going to be for the day. I think 7-8 inches is as small as I like to keep them though anything under 7 and I just don't think you get enough off of them.

This is some good stuff.  Can't believe how this thread is taking off. Thinking about going out tomorrow but definitely going Monday. Give it time to settle down some. Gonna be on the quad.

Very tough going today with the wheelers. Watch out for those wet looking areas...a lot of slop in places. Worst day I've had in years for the perch...even the GPS didn't help. Caught a 24.5" laker lost one a little bigger at the hole and a buddy and I each caught a short. I feel sorry for anyone walking out there...just walking from hole to hole was a workout. An immediate trip to the car wash to get the slush off the wheeler is a must.

Did real good on LG the other day. Almost every perch we caught were keepers 10"+. Caught fish all day but only kept enough for a meal or 2.

That one on the top left only looks like a 9 1/2 incher ;D. Thanks for bringing over the filets the other day. They were excellent.
I hope to be getting on the ice by the end of February or first week in March. Surgery sucks.

No problem Don. I would of felt guilty feeding my fat face with filets while you were stuck inside recovering.

Dang Steve that looks like a feast. Nice job. Now I am thinking of driving up, perch is what I fish for. Been to the lake many times but only in the summer, as My sister and husband own Cleverdale country store. Always wanted to come up in the winter. :icefish:
